MP demands inquiry to exploit foreign doctor 'bullying'
A north Queensland MP states that he has received reports on overseas-trained doctors who are being bullied by other colleagues in the Australian medical system.
Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon this week pronounced that a parliamentary asking with respect to registration process and support will be offered for the overseas-trained doctors.
The inquiry has been set in motion by the federal Member for Leichhardt, Warren Entsch, who claimed that the case of Cairns cardiologist Roger Chatoor, is being pushed with respect to the return in case of UK after being denied with re-registration.
Mr Entsch stated that he was grateful to the fact that more number of doctors have approached in the matter and demanded for the inquiry to be undertaken.
"We've got to see what level of collusion is there in relation to medical practitioners and how they're able to influence decisions, how they're able to use the fact that many of these doctors are on different kinds of visas and how they are basically being bullied ... [and] forced into circumstances that no Australian doctor would ever consider," he said.
It is aimed to offer an opportunity to proffer direction for a transparent and honest assessment in order to make sure of the fact that one did not offer good quality people once acquired.
