Duchess Kate could become patron of England cricket

Duchess Kate could become patron of England cricketLondon, Feb 3 : The Duchess of Cambridge took on four patronages last month, but it looks like there might be another one opening up for her.

England cricket chiefs reportedly want her to become the first-ever patron of the England and Wales Cricket Board and be the royal face of the sport.

"There isn't a patron at the moment and it is a position the ECB is keen to create," the Mirror quoted an ECB insider as saying.

"The Duchess of Cambridge would make the ideal patron for the game because she is young, vibrant and a role model to millions," the insider added.

If she takes up the role it would put her and husband Prince William at the top of England's two national sports as he is president of the Football Association.

However, the Duchess' spokesman said that no such request has been made yet.

"As yet there has been no formal request from the ECB for the Duchess to consider," he said. (ANI)
