ATMs to disburse new currency by early December: Finance Ministry

New Delhi, Nov 13 : The Finance Ministry said on Saturday that the ATMs will be able to disburse new currency notes only by early December as recalibration of the machines requires both hardware and software modifications.

New Delhi [India], Nov. 12 : In bid to assuage the building frustration among people who have been fuming over dry ATM machines and long queues outside banks, Union Finance Minster Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the Finance Ministry is monitoring currency replacement constantly and added that it would take two to three weeks approximately to recalibrate 2 lakh ATMs across the country.

New Delhi [India], Nov. 10 : Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday assured that people depositing smaller amounts less than 2.5 lakh would not attract harassments from the Income Tax (IT) officials, adding that the banks across the country would open on weekends and extend their working hours to ensure that requisite replacement of currency is available to the people.
