I'm The Only Specialized Villain Left In Hindi Film Industry, Says Gulshan Grover

gulshan groverGulshan Grover plays the role a police officer in "Red Alert: The War Within", but for buffs he will always remain the Bollywood bad man he's played in numerous flicks.

And Grover takes pride in saying that he is the only "specialized villain" left in the Hindi film industry.

In an interview, Grover stated, "Villains like that have disappeared from the film. Nowadays there are no villains you know. I know and believe that I am a versatile, capable actor; it was initially just to get stardom. I still play villain, I still take pride that I am the only specialised villain left in the business, but I am also an actor who can play any part and I am doing that."

Some of the Gulshan's best remembered negative roles were in flicks including "Sohni Mahiwal", "Ram Lakhan", "Shola Aur Shabnam" and "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi".

In director Anant Mahadevan's movie "Red Alert: The War Within", which gives an insight into the long-drawn fight between the Maoists and the government, Grover plays the character of a senior police officer.

"I am playing the head of police, someone who represents the system... the government's point of view... In a way everyone is on one side and me and my police force are on the other side," he said.

"Red Alert..." will hit theatres on July 09.

The flick is almost a reality check on how a poor agriculturist Narsihma (Suniel Shetty), who desperately needs money to fund his children's education, finds himself in the midst of the Maoist movement, working as a cook.

Grover has a few offers from Hollwood, but is focussing more on Hindi films. (With Inputs from Agencies)
