Health is Wealth

Dinesh-TrivediDinesh Trivedi, Minister of State for Health, said that if India wants to achieve its desired growth rate then health and education should be the main priority.

'The finance minister also, while addressing a function at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), stressed upon the above mentioned factors.

Trivedi said that 80 per cent of the expenditure on health was from private sector and it was entirely being spent in urban areas and therefore requested the private sector to come forward and invest in rural areas.

Since basic facilities like clean drinking water and nutrition are keys to ensure equality, he also advocated for inclusion of drinking water into the main agenda. He also said that in order to ensure equality, the first step should be to provide proper health care facilities.

The civil society also has a greater responsibility in providing drinking water under health ministry.

And the major problems which are prevalent in rural areas are the water-borne diseases. The minister also supported the new scheme for a short term course in medicine for training doctors in rural areas.
