A new chapter of Cricket was started by World Twenty-20 in South Africa and Franchise Based IPL.which offered prize money of $6 million and was held in 8 locations all over India. Looking at the popularity of the game a Tri-Nation Twenty20 series between Australia, South Africa and India in 2009 is a welcome idea .

The series will follow the format of the Tri-Nations Rugby Cup which is an Annual Tournament with Australia, South Africa and New-Zealand as opponents. The entire responsibility of the Tournament is on the Governing Bodies of Rugby in the respective countries. 

A few hassles like fitting a new schedule into an already existing jam-packed program of matches for the year 2009 needs to be looked at. Also, it has to be kept in mind that according to ICC regulations National teams are allowed to play only seven Tweny20 international matches in a year. Most likely the matches shall be held in Australia and South Africa.

Gerald Majola, chief Executive of Cricket South Africa said” At this point of time we are confident that it will take place but we haven't finalized venues, details of prize money or sponsorship”. The decision was taken during the meeting of chief executives of ICC in Dubai recently.

So all you cricket fans out there gear up for a busy 2009.
