New Delhi, Nov. 18 : Canada will be featured as the partner country for a Higher Education Summit organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in New Delhi November 25-26, 2008.
More than 40 Canadian institutions will participate in the two-day Summit with the theme: Higher Education at the Crossroads: Imperatives for Policy and Practice.
Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) and the Canadian High Commission in Delhi have partnered with FICCI for the event in which more than 500 delegates from around the world are expected to participate.
London, Nov 18 : Academics have found that the ship known as Mary Rose may have been sunk by a cannonball shot by a French warship in 1545.
The Mary Rose, which was raised from the seabed in 1982 and remains on public display in Portsmouth, was sunk in 1545, during the Battle of The Solent, a clash between the English fleet and a French invasion force.
Traditionally, historians have blamed the sinking, not on the intervention of the French, but on a recklessly sharp turn and the failure to close gun ports, allowing water to flood in.

Nuremberg, Germany - Japan's Kyocera Mita Corporation announced takeover plans Tuesday for the German office services company Triumph-Adler AG.
The Osaka-based company said it would submit an offer of 1.90 euros (2.40 dollars) per share in order to secure around 60-75 per cent of the German firm's share capital.
Kyocera Mita already has a 29.9-per-cent stake in Triumph-Adler AG, the announcement said, adding that Triumph-Adler would remain a listed company.
Washington, Nov 18 : Pop star Brandy has admitted that her appalling 2006 car accident caused her so much pain that it changed her life forever.
The ‘Baby’ hitmaker was driving Land rover in L. A. when her car collided with another vehicle on a busy freeway, causing the car to crash into another driver and slide into the central reservation.
The car collision led to the death of another driver Awatef Aboudihaj, while Brandy was unhurt.
And the singer was widely blamed for the incident.
"It was a situation that changed my life forever. I will never be the same. It was pretty bad. There were parts flying and there was a bunch of smoke,” Contactmusic quoted Brandy, as saying.
