Dubai denies investigating airline attacker

Umar-Farouk-AbdulmutallabLocal media in Dubai has reported that the state has not begin investigation into the incident taken place on the eve of Christmas in which a man was held with some chemicals to blow up a US based plane.

The arrested Nigerian man, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, aged 23 years is reported to have taken training from terrorist outfit al-Qaeda and spend at least seven months in the United Arab Emirates during his studies at a Wollongong University.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the head of Dubai police, said, "He stayed here briefly and we don't have any suspicions of the involvement of other members with the Nigerian man. We were not approached by any agency before or after the incident."

Tamim said that a large number of students turned up in universities in the nation for their professional studies and people cannot be put under scanner without any solid reason.

Meanwhile, The National reported that universities authorities have already submitted the list of students including Abdulmutallab to police but officials have yet to interrogate them for going deep into conspiracy behind the incident.
