Delhi High Court summons Vijay Mallya & United Breweries’ MD

Delhi High Court summons Vijay Mallya & United Breweries’ MDGrounded Kingfisher Airlines' owner Vijay Mallya and United Breweries Holdings Ltd's managing director Harish Bhat have been summoned by the Delhi High Court over French deal fallout.

On Monday, the Delhi High Court directed the Mallya and Bhat to appear before it on 29th of October, and explain their stance in a matter where a French supplier of turbo aircrafts has sought execution of a decree amounting to $18 million against the grounded carrier.

Earlier this year, Avion De Transport Regional Gie (ATR) moved the high Court seeking execution of a decree passed by a U. K. court directing Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines to shell out $18 million.

United Breweries' managing director Harish Bhat was summoned as United Breweries had signed as the corporate guarantor in a contract signed between ATR and Kingfisher Airlines.

In July this year, the Delhi High Court had permitted authorized representatives on behalf of Mallya and Bhat; but Justice Muralidhar yesterday directed the two MDs to appear in person before the court, after ATR argued that instead of filing an affidavit listing movable & immovable assets of the company across India, the representatives submitted a list of assets located in Delhi, which amounted to just Rs 6.86 lakh.
