Controversial Indian movie ‘Garam Hawa’ screened in Pak

Controversial Indian movie ‘Garam Hawa’ screened in PakLahore, Nov 25: Indian film “Garam Hawa”, which courted controversy and was subsequently banned both in India and Pakistan prior to this screening, was screened by the Beaconhouse National University (BNU) School of Liberal Arts (SLA) last evening.

SLA Co-ordinator Naghmana Khan said that the purpose behind screening the movie was to teach students about production techniques and to provide them with knowledge of history.

MS Sathyu, the director of the movie, SLA Dean Naveed Shahzad, students and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.

The film was an adaption of Ismat Chughtai’s story by noted Urdu poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi.

While the original story revolves around a stationmaster stuck in the throes of Partition, Azmi brought in his own experiences as a union leader for the workers of a shoe-manufacturing factory to the film. (ANI)
