Cavendish wins 11th stage Arenzano, Italy - Briton Mark Cavendish on Wednesday won his second stage of this year's Giro d'Italia, edging out American Tyler Farrar and Italian Alessandro Petacchi in a mass-sprint finish.

The Columbia cyclist, who also won the 9th stage, needed 4:51:17 hours for the 214-kilometre long stage from Turin to Arenzano.

Italian Danilo di Luca had no problems holding onto the overall lead, which he holds by one minute 20 seconds from Russian Denis Menchov.

After 110 kilometres Russian Vladimir Isaitchev managed to break away from the peloton and at times had a lead of eight minutes. Later Marco Marzano also attempted to get away from the chasing pack, but the sprinter teams constantly had the situation under control, thus ensuring a sprint finish.(dpa)
