Can Botox be a cure for migraine?

Can Botox be a cure for migraine? What if a cosmetic could aid in treatment of a disease? Botox, a cosmetic injection to cure the wrinkling skin is found to be effective in curing the imploding migraine

According to statistics nine million people in Britain suffer from migraines making it more common than diabetes. The study involved a group of 18 individuals who were in their fifties and were migraine patients. They were characterized in to two types the "imploding" ones who used descriptions like "crushing" or said that they had a sensation that there head is being crushed from outside. The other group had a sensation of "exploding" headache, describing a pressure building up inside their head or that it was going to explode like a bomb.

Botox injections aided all who had an "imploding" headache, but only one in three of those with an "exploding" pain. Those who found the treatment was effective saw their attacks fall drastically, from an average of 6.8 to 0.7 a month.

It is believed that Botox paralyses the nerves which carry the message to the brain signaling the pain and thus the headaches are curbed. However this is not a foolproof method to establish the fact that Botox can cure Migraine. The sample size or the viability of the experiments needs to stand the time-trial to derive to the conclusion.
