BP’s partner Anadarko denied paying its share of the oil spill costAnadarko, which is one of the partners of BP in the deepwater oil well that exploded in April and caused the disaster oil spill in Gulf of Mexico, has denied paying its share of the oil spill costs so far.

The oil firm Anadarko has 25% stake of the Macondo well, hence it was asked to pay at least 272 million dollars as its share by BP.

But the Houston based firm Anadarko has cleared that it is unable to pay that much amount of money. BP said it was very unfortunate that the company had failed to live up to their obligations.

The spokesman for BP, Mr. Mark Salt has said that the refusal of Anadarko to pay their share will not affect the commitment of BP to stop the oil leak, clean up process of the spill. He has also said that the payments of the claims will be made as quickly as possible.

According to BP, another company named 'Mitsui Oil Exploration' having a stake in that project, had also not responded to the request of BP to help and pay for the disaster. The oil giant vowed to set up a $20 billion fund to deal with the oil clean up and compensation claims.
