London, Jan. 19 : Gujarat in India is all set to have a world-class stadium -- the "StadiArena", thanks to a joint initiative by the State Government, the London-based StadiArena and its Indian partner Transstadia.

The multi-million pound project will be the first major sport-related development in India.

Depending on the overall size of the stadium, the seating capacity of StadiArena can be "flexed" to cater for an audience of between 2,000 to 20,000.

StadiArena has negotiated an exclusive joint venture with their Indian partner "Transtadia".

This government-backed scheme is scheduled to come up by 2010 in Ahmedabad, a city which has a current population of over six million.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced the signing of an MoU related to the project on January 12 during the Gujarat Global Investors Summit.

As part of the joint venture, StadiArena will hold full control over the design and build of the stadium, as well as any associated branding and media rights of this world class development.

The project is all set to be a true British success story in these grim times of economic turmoil.

The StadiArena solution has been designed by specialists in Stadia construction with consideration for the specific requirements of both the core sports utilising the external playing area and also the event users utilising the recently created internal arena (e. g. acoustics, heating, lighting, ventilation etc.)

Like for instance, the StadiDoor is located behind the touchline for football or dead ball line for rugby, so as not to interfere with the playing surface.

The company is likely to be on site and break ground by the end of March 2009.

StadiArena, a unique and robustly designed product which not only enhances the profitability of successful stadia, but also has the ability to transform potentially loss making developments into sustainable enterprises.

Once ready, many sports lovers may describe the StadiArena as India''s Wembley, which is located in the Borough of Brent in north west London and owned by The Football Association (FA) via its subsidiary Wembley National Stadium Limited.

Wembley''s primary use is for home games of the England national football team, and the main English domestic football finals. It is also used for pop concerts and other sporting events.

StadiArena will also address the legacy issues created by the construction of stadiums for specific events such as World cups or Olympics.

Post-competition, the stadium can be used for a variety of sporting and non-sporting events, making it a true community facility.

The stadium''s opening date of September 2010 is likely to coincide with the launch of the Tata Nano car.

The company is also meeting with the IPL (Indian Premier League) to discuss the creation and or reworking of cricket grounds nationally, besides the use of StadiArena paraphernalia in cricket pavilions. (ANI)
