Azad discusses the possibility of setting up A/H1N1 war room
Swine flu has claimed six lives till now. The increasing number of swine flu deaths has become an issue of concern for the government authorities.
Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday discussed with Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar various measures to tackle the spread of the deadly virus. Health Secretary Naresh Dayal was also present at the meeting.
Recently a four-year-old boy died of swine flu in Chennai. A 35-year-old ayurvedic doctor died of swine flu in Pune on Monday. The viral infection has affected more than 800 people till now.
PMO sources said the Prime Minister told Azad to set up a panel of experts and doctors to spread correct information about the H1N1 virus that causes swine flu.
The PM also asked Azad to take steps to remove misinformation and educate people about the disease.
Azad Monday advised state governments to set up separate Out Patient Departments (OPD) and wards in hospitals to screen and treat patients suffering from the deadly viral disease.
Azad also discussed with the Cabinet Secretary the possibility of setting up A/H1N1 war room in order to enhance the efforts to tackle the spread of swine flu.
